The initial Fuel Tank Safety Level 1 and 2 course is designed to provide essential knowledge about the risks associated with aircraft fuel tanks and the preventive measures established by EASA to guarantee their operational safety.
During the course, the student will understand the principles of the SFAR 88 system, the fundamentals of fuel system design and the maintenance and control actions necessary to avoid risks of ignition or explosion.
This training meets the requirements established by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and is mandatory for maintenance, engineering and quality control personnel working in Part 145 or Part M organizations.
Course goals
- Gain knowledge of the historical background related to Fuel Tank Safety (FTS).
- Know the concepts of Fuel ALI including the control limitations of the CDCCL critical design configuration as well as its identification in manufacturers’ documentation.
- Know the FAA regulations (SFAR /Special FAR) 88 of the FAA and the JAA Temporary Guide TGL 47.
- Provide information to operational personnel regarding the risks of working on fuel systems and especially those related to flammability reduction systems.
