The initial course in Safety Management System (SMS) with Human Factors (FFHH) for aircraft maintenance<\/strong> is designed to understand how human factors such as fatigue, communication or safety culture affect maintenance operations and how to prevent them.<\/p>\n

It differs from the Initial SMS course<\/a> in that it adds a specialized layer: human factors in aircraft maintenance. And it differs from the recurring SMS course <\/a>because the recurring one is used for updating, however this one is designed for those who have not yet been trained with that specialized approach in FFHH. <\/p>\n

Goals<\/h2>\n

  • Introduce organizational requirements for the effective implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS).<\/li>\n
  • Correctly interpret the requirements established by current regulations.<\/li>\n
  • Understand the processes associated with Risk Management and Security Guarantee.<\/li>\n
  • Understand the importance of human factors and delve into human capabilities and behaviors, as well as the interaction between people and machines, systems, procedures and the work environment that surrounds them, in order to improve the safety and effectiveness of said work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Aeronautical maintenance technicians who perform critical tasks that may be impacted by human factors (inspection, repair, overhaul).<\/li>\n
    • Supervisors and maintenance managers who lead teams and want to improve the safety and human work culture within their department.<\/li>\n
    • Quality, operational safety and internal audit engineers who want to train in the integration of FFHH in SMS.<\/li>\n
    • Maintenance organizations (MROs or Part-145 shops) that wish to certify or accredit FFHH procedures as part of their initial SMS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Why is it important to integrate Human Factors in aeronautical maintenance?<\/h2>\n

      • Many maintenance incidents and errors are due to failures derived from human factors: distraction, fatigue, poor communication, poor organizational conditions. Learning to identify them directly improves operational safety. <\/li>\n
      • International regulations and recommendations from organizations such as EASA and ICAO increasingly require a safety culture that includes FFHH.<\/li>\n
      • Integrating FFHH helps improve SMS effectiveness: prevention of failures, reduction of delays, lower costs for post-maintenance corrections.<\/li>\n
